I joined MARKITDOWN because I knew Babeth from previous jobs we had both worked on. It sounded like a great project to get into and it helped that Babeth is brilliant to work with.
The initiative itself is a great idea that brings international artists together and provides a platform to showcase their unique styles.
I also like the link between the paint company and the artists, the idea of a home décor paint company being the source for so much more than just painting a living room.
I was born in India, grew up in South Wales and have lived in many countries since. I’ve been based in the Netherlands for the last 10 years and currently live in Leiden with my wife and daughters plus our cat and dog.
I guess I become a photographer at around 17 years old. I started taking photos because I’ve always been fascinated by the memory attached to the image. A photograph makes you re-live the details. For me, taking and looking at photographs is like an itch that won’t stop no matter how much you scratch.
At the moment, I am working on projects that focus on consumption and question our acceptance of the term ‘sustainability’.
I am driven by the pursuit of details. Photography never stops and in today’s society, we consume images as much as we are consumed by them.
We must endeavor to keep going though. The lows will always come but they make the highs relevant. Be motivated by the people around you because who knows what the future will bring.
